Join our Rail team as a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Rail Systems business and you'll deliver complex work that really matters to our business and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the industry.
Manage all costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works
Provide support to senior members of team in delivering varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and managing supply chain
Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our customers
Assist and support with commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders
Provide support and adherence for the Gated Business Lifecycle process.
Accountabilities:
Governance
Good knowledge of the Companys Group Minimum Commercial Expectations and promotes use and adherence, including other governance requirements in line with the Gated Business Lifecycle process
Commercial Management
Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required
Undertakes customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility
Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required
Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation
Cost Engineering
Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
Measure, record & value work in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
Analytical Thinking & Decision Making
Orders information and systematically checks data
Maximises digital opportunities
Estimating
In conjunction with the estimating team, critically appraises, estimates, and negotiates with third parties
Planning
Reviews contract programmes and assist with delay and disruption analysis
Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
Analyses the commercial progress and report to senior project staff
Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility
Procurement
Prepares subcontract documentation
Prepares and reviews subcontract tender documentation
Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy
The following qualifications or equivalent are essential:
BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
An organised, innovative, creative Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience of working of leading Projects and managing packages of works
Experience of managing costs and maximising value
Experience of financial and commercial control within a project
Experience of procuring and managing supply chain
Maintains own Personal Development Plan
Manages HR/People aspects for direct and indirect reports (Personal Development Reviews etc.)
Actively supports the development of others including professional mentoring
Membership of RICS or ICES or working towards this accreditation
Experience of working as part of commercial teams
Proven record of working to deadlines, working efficiently and to a high standard
Experience of infrastructure projects with resilience and determination to succeed
