Robert Half are working exclusively with a high growth PE backed start up business in Gloucester seeking 4-6 months interim cover for a Financial Controller.

Job Title: Interim Financial Controller

Location: Gloucester - 3days in the Office

Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)

Rate: £300-£350pd via Umbrella

Hybrid Work Arrangement: Work in a hybrid environment, with a minimum of 2 or 3 days on-site, to support the financial needs of the business.

With £2 million in initial funding our client is currently in the process of raising further investment to further they're mission. Our clients groundbreaking technology, which has been successfully tested in prototypes.

Job Description:

As an Interim Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing our financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting our growth initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of an exciting and forward-thinking organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management: Manage month-end accounts using Xero, which is currently outsourced to a third-party company. Your role will involve coming and reshaping the month end process.
• Capital Raising: Support the capital raising effort, collaborating with the CEO, MD, to secure necessary funding.
• Financial Strategy: Work closely with the leadership team to develop financial strategies, including forecasting for 3-5 years and scenario planning. Prepare and present board packs, comparing actuals against forecasts.
• Acquisition Support: The business is planning to acquire another business. You will be responsible for introducing proper disciplines and processes to manage financial aspects of this acquisition.
• Project Accounting: Oversee project accounting, especially related to the new business, ensuring financial discipline and cash accounting practices are maintained. Prepare for the transition of the new business.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the transactional team, including a P/T Accounts assistant who manages transactions for dual businesses. Coordinate with external auditors during the due diligence process for the acquisition.
• Regulatory Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting, including monthly reports.
• Support for Invoicing: Assist in resolving discrepancies in invoicing and help in bringing invoicing processes in-house.
• Positive and Engaging: Embrace a fresh engineering style and foster a good-humoured and collaborative atmosphere within the organisation.

Qualifications:

• Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or qualified by suitable experience
• Proven experience in financial management, preferably in startups or SMEs
• Strong knowledge of Xero and project accounting
• Experience with capital raising and acquisition processes.
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills
• Regulatory reporting expertise
• Positive and adaptable attitude
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team.

Previous experience in the engineering or technology sector is a plus.
