We are looking for an experienced manager to join the Short Breaks team to lead on the development, implementation and maintenance of robust contract management and monitoring of Hackney’s short breaks for disabled children and young people. The post will support the Service Manager for Disabled Children’s Service (DCS) and other managers in the development of the accessibility of short breaks in mainstream/universal settings for disabled children and young people, and associated workforce development issues. The role will be working in partnership with NHS City & Hackney and Hackney Education to ensure that the overall delivery of short breaks for disabled children and young people in Hackney is as holistic, seamless and equitable as possible across the Children & Young People’s Partnership.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
● Very high standards of literacy and numeracy.
EXPERIENCE
● Significant past experience of working in or with services for disabled children.

● Experience of commissioning services for children and young people and/or social
care services. [Desirable]
● Experience of managing a substantial budget. [Desirable]
● Experience of line management of front-line staff. [Desirable]
● Experience of working within a contract management/monitoring capacity. ●
Experience of work in the field of service user involvement. [Desirable] ●
Significant project management experience relevant to this post. ● Experience of
working within an education/social care/healthcare organisation.
● Experience of inter-agency working within an education/social care/healthcare
setting.
● Experience of working with local third sector organisations. [Desirable]
● Experience of working with people from a range of backgrounds and at different
levels of seniority.
● Experience of producing in-depth reports and papers for a senior children’s
services and/or social care audience.
● Experience of being able to collate, analyse and present information in a number
of formats and for different audiences.
KNOWLEDGE
● A detailed knowledge of the policy agenda for disabled children, young people and
their families, and the current issues facing statutory partners in this sector.
