Head of Physics

Permanent and Full Time from 1 st September 2024

Salary: MPS or UPS + PHS 5 allowance (£3,213) with a one-off recruitment allowance of £2,500

Are you passionate about educating young people about science? If so, why not join our high performing dedicated and hardworking science department? The Governors of Pershore High School wish to appoint an engaging and enthusiastic Head of Physics from 1 st September 2024. You will lead a team of specialist science teachers supported by a science specialist learning support practitioner to deliver an engaging and enriching physics curriculum. Triple Science is a very popular option at GCSE and recruitment to A Level physics is very strong with consistently high uptake and excellent outcomes; a significant number of our A Level scientists go on to study science related courses at university. The science department is located together in an eleven-lab science building complete with three prep rooms and a staff workroom; all staff are provided with a laptop.

We currently have 1148 students on roll in Years 7-13 of which 188 are on the SEND Register, 32 of whom have EHCPs. This includes 14 students who are part of our Mainstream Autism Base (MAB). In addition, 16% of students are in receipt of the Pupil Premium Grant. The school was rated Good by Ofsted at their last visit in November 2022 and we have outstanding pastoral provision. Our highly successful school is steadily growing and student numbers are predicted to rise further in the next few years. We have been awarded a £22 million expansion and rebuilding project starting in September 2024 which will significantly enhance our facilities.
