Job description

What you will do in your working day

The job role will include:

• Goods inwards inspection including raw material, electroplating, heat treatment and finished goods
• Working with engineering drawings, job instructions and product specifications and learning how to interpret them
• Using measuring equipment such as shadow graphs, verniers, digital calipers and gauges
• Dealing with internal rejections, including liaison with department heads.
• Reporting to the quality manager and production manager
• Support with internal quality audits
• Support with stakeholder and customer visits
• Gather quality performance data
• Administration duties including data entry and scanning
• Following internal policies and procedures

Working in an industrial environment, the role will be split between inspection being responsible for goods in, fasteners, components and raw material as well as occasional driving, collecting and delivering material or fasteners from suppliers or to subcontractors. You will be required to prepare, control, contribute to and complete manufacturing operations and follow processes as well as maintaining health and safety requirements such as wearing the correct PPE. You will also be required to carry out quality checks and highlight any defects of concerns.

Lean manufacturing operative L2 apprenticeship standard

You will attend In-Comm Training in Telford for 10 off-the-job training sessions.  

You will also receive a full induction prior to the apprenticeship which covers the following:

• Induction to In-Comm
• Induction to the Qualification
• Working Safely
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities
• Diary keeping and Continuous Professional development log
• Equality and Diversity
• Safeguarding
• Prevent agenda and British Values.

To achieve this qualification, you will go through end point assessment consisting off:

• Portfolio evidence
• Workplace project with presentation
• Professional discussion
• Log book and diary of CPD

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

There will be a full time permanent role available in the Quality department on successful completion of this Apprenticeship.

There will also be a further opportunity to gain further qualifications or progress onto the Level 3 on successful completion of the Apprenticeship.
