Job description
Pensions and Investment Manager
We are currently looking for an interim Finance Manager for a Council’s Pensions and Investment team. The role covering investments and governance of the Pension Fund and is for 6 months.
Responsibilities
• Ensure the appropriate governance, administration, and financial management of the Pension Fund
• Direct and lead the development and delivery of the Pension Fund funding and investment strategies
• Take the lead in ensuring day to day operations of investment and accounting matters for Pension Fund
• Lead on pension fund risk and governance matters
• Manage the commissioning of the pension fund administration function
• Lead on the planning and coordination of the triennial pension fund actuarial revaluations
• Working closely with the Pensions Administration team and fund actuaries
• Act as the council’s technical expert on all matters relating to Pension Fund
• Lead on the co-ordination and presentation of reports and advice to pension fund boards and committees
• Represent the pension fund at national and international pension fund events
The candidate will need to have experience in:
• LGPS Fund governance
• LGPS pooling (we are in the Border to Coast pool)
• Investment management
• Managing people and managing a team positively
• Promoting a positive team culture
• Pension fund accounts and ability provide leadership and advice to the team on the accounts
• Managing different relationships appropriately, e.g. partnership relationships, contractual relationships, etc.
• Working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, e.g. committee members, staff, fund managers
