Job description
Acorn by Synergie is looking for a Quality Controller for the Newport Area. Transport required as first 2 months, training will be at Treforest.
Essential - Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Sampling, measuring, and verifying that manufactured products meet pre-determined quality standards.
- Maintenance of relevant Quality and product specifications as needs arise.
- Perform in quality function to maximise and sustain continual improvement in standards by ensuring:
- The most effective use of resources is made in the support of production processes.
- Rapid communication of issues is made to the relevant management level.
- That pertinent quality data is kept in a meaningful way and made easily accessible.
- That all relevant quality processes are under continuous scrutiny for efficiency and quality improvements.
- That information and documentation is available as required to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Carry out monthly internal audits in line with the internal auditing schedule.
- Ensure the requirements of our IMS system are always maintained.
- Assist the Quality / Production Manager during customer & regulatory audits.

Qualifications - Minimum
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software.
- Certified Internal Quality Auditor.
- Good understanding of statistical process control (SPC).
- Good standard of Education.
- Good standard of written English & Math's.
- Good communication skill & attitude.
- Understand & use of measuring equipment - ruler, scales etc.
Qualification - Desirable
- Several year's quality experience in a 'lean culture' working environment.
- Qualification to NVQ level 4 in a quality qualification
- Experience in lean manufacturing / continuous improvement techniques & tools 5s, Kaisen etc.
Minimum Skills Requirements
- Quality / Auditing experience in a 'lean culture' manufacturing environment
- Broad knowledge of production packaging & processing
- Awareness of modern technology
- Good communication skills & attitude
- Team player
- Flexible - able to work shifts & cover over time when required
- Competent & self-motivated
Other Skills / Abilities Desirable
- Awareness & experience of modern improvement tools & techniques
- Data handling / PC skills
- Able to work under pressure to achieve tight delivery schedules
- Wide Quality / Auditing experience in a selection of modern 'lean cultured' manufacturing environments
- Is able to identify opportunities to implement new ideas and generate creative solutions
- Relevant industry recognised Quality Assurance qualification.
- Experience of working in a chemical, biological or pharmaceutical laboratory.
