Job description
PE Global is currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer on behalf of our public sector client. This is an initial 12-month contract hybrid role. The role can be based in Dublin or Cork.
The Civil, Environmental & Renewable Engineering (CER) Group within Engineering & Major Projects provides the full range of planning, design, construction, operation & maintenance and management services required for electricity industry infrastructure projects in Ireland and overseas.
Position Description
The Senior Civil and Structural Engineer will work as part of multidisciplinary engineering project teams on a range of developments.
The Senior Civil and Structural Engineer will work with highly skilled and motivated multi-disciplinary projects teams, as well as engaging with clients, contractors, colleagues, and other stakeholders to influence a successful outcome for the projects.
The role includes the inspection of existing assets and structural condition assessments, the audit of their maintenance in line with agreed procedures, preparation of tender packages for civil maintenance projects and/or demolition.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Promote and lead the safety management and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.
• Ensuring that Quality Procedures are implemented on all projects.
• Providing strong civil, structural engineering technical expertise and advice from project concept through to detailed design and construction.
• Leading, managing and coordinating all relevant civil/ structural engineering and associated disciplines’ activities required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget and programme including the management of civil works contracts.
• Carrying out site inspections and providing associated advice.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
The successful candidate will have: –
• Developed a competent level of expertise in the delivery of civil/ structural engineering packages.
• A strong commercial and project management capability.
• Demonstrated a strong capability in assessing communicating and managing project critical technical risks.
• Strong communication and report writing skills.
• Minimum 7 years relevant experience.
Desirable
• Demonstrated a record of successfully managing significant projects or aspects of significant projects of a multi-disciplinary nature.
• Experience in aspects of large-scale demolition projects i.e., engineering assessments, scoping and contract management.
• The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• A strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate necessary work with limited oversight.
• A proven ability to work as part of a project team.
• Experience in performing PSDP or Principal Designer (PD) role on projects.
Qualifications
Essential
• Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
• Full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable
• Level 9 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
• Chartered status in a recognised professional engineering institution.
