Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Infrastructure Engineering Manager to join our IT Team (Thinking Technology) within our South West (Devon) region. The role will be based within one of our academies in either our Torbay or Plymouth hub.

This is a new post and will have a wide-reaching remit supporting the development of IT systems and delivery of IT services to all academies within the Trust, as well as overseeing the Regional Engineering Managers working across Devon.

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure and Systems and working alongside three other Infrastructure Engineering Mangers you will support the continued development of the Trust’s IT estate and help shape the Trust’s Digital Learning and Technology vision for 2025-2030. The role will play a key part in the strategic & technical roadmap of our systems and services and will require a balance of leadership, technical administration, development and communication skills.

What we’re looking for:
• Strong expertise in Microsoft services, including Entra and M365.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and other command line tools.
• Extensive experience of designing, developing, managing, maintaining and reviewing ICT
• Experience of managing team members undertaking all line management responsibilities, and creating a positive team based working environment
• Experience of designing, and maintaining systems and services across multiple geographic locations
• Experience of Microsoft client operating systems and applications (Windows 10/11, Windows Server and Microsoft Office)
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Thinking Technology
Established in 2018, Thinking Technology is the provider of IT services within The Thinking Schools Academy Trust and is responsible for the design, procurement, implementation, and service delivery to all academies within the Trust.

Thinking Technology manages the Trust’s wide area network, referred to as the “Trust Single Network (TSN)” which supports approximately 20,000 users through the management of a range of technologies including over 2100 Aruba infrastructure devices, and 15000 client devices across the Trust's South East, South and South West regions.
