Job description

Welcoming patients and their representatives to the andrology clinic, being courteous and helpful at all times. Participate in all andrological laboratory procedures including primary care referral for diagnostic semen analysis and post-vasectomy analysis according to SOPs, meeting the necessary UKAS, ISO or other standards as relevant. Participate in the technical preparation of diagnostic cytology specimens under supervision and in accordance with written procedures. Observe departmental protocols concerning the confidentiality of patient information. Cleaning work areas after use so that they are ready and available for the next operator. This will involve working with biological waste, fluids and infectious hazards. To work to internal and external quality standards including participation in an external quality assurance scheme (NEQAS). Take an active part in preparing for internal and external audits and inspections. Arrange appointments for patients and deal with telephone and email enquiries. Assist in the proper documentation of all procedures. Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes as appropriate. Assist with computerised entry of patient and specimen data. Assist in general laboratory duties as required. Such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Laboratory Manager. The jobholder is expected to undertake training in order to: Maintain HCPC registration. Complete The Association of Reproductive and Clinical Scientists (ARCS), Certificate in Basic Semen Analysis (Module 1) or equivalent. Actively complete regular CP It is essential that a high standard of dress and conduct be maintained to the satisfaction of the Laboratory Manager. This job description will be reviewed on an annual basis in accordance with the Department's Appraisal Policy.
