The role
As a Project Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Nuclear Facilities is a business unit within Babcock Nuclear Group. Our mission is to safely deliver world class nuclear facilities in support of the submarine and equipment programmes within the Devonport Royal Dockyard. We have a programme of investment over the next five years that will see the transformation of the facilities to support the companies ambitions.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of a number of key projects and should be competent in running aspects of a project such as: safety, scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources to achieve a project's agreed objectives.
- Managing customer interfaces and associated stakeholders including identification and monitoring of project risks, planning, and implementing responses.
- Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of the project, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities.
- Planning and delivery of the entire project lifecycle including the submission of regular monthly performance reports and escalation of issues.
- Managing and providing oversite of physical works being undertaken, as well as driving project delivery whilst always maintaining a high level of safety standards.
- Leading and developing a team of Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.
This role is full time, 36 hours based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Project Manager
- Knowledge and/or experience of project management techniques and activities.
- Ability to capture project information and present it in easy-to-understand formats.
- A proactive and flexible approach with the ability to work collaboratively with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Understanding of tender assessment and supply chain management of contractors to safely deliver work packages in accordance with process and governance.
- Experience of managing resources including coaching, developing, and mentoring of small teams.
- Experience delivering projects in accordance with nuclear process, and the global project management framework.
Qualifications for the Project Manager
- Minimum NVQ Level 4 in an engineering discipline, or Business qualification (BTEC HNC in management minimum) or relevant industrial/commercial experience.
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent qualification in project management.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
