Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler. SRS UK provides a train maintenance service for a growing number of clients in the UK. In the next few years over 150 new Stadler trains will be joining the UK Rail Network which signifies the start of an exciting future for Stadler in the UK. Our current depot locations are in Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle and Norwich offering a wide scope of opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the UK Rail Industry.

We are looking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant to join the Procurement team at our Kirkdale Depot. Reporting to the Materials Manager, The role will be responsible for having sound knowledge of material supply principles, procedures, and practices. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of rolling stock and an understanding of rolling stock maintenance practices, particularly in the use and requirement of materials and parts.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Processing PO's with approved vendors
• Tracking deliveries and updating order records (e.g. dates)
• Ensure all suppliers meet the company's minimum required specification on acceptable material quality, especially with safety-critical parts
• Support any function with Supplier related issues (first contact point)
• Supervise overdue materials and parts with suppliers to effectively minimise any delays.
• Amendment of re-order levels to eliminate shortages to bill-of-material issues
• Arrange for prompt return for repair/replace or recalibration of tools and equipment used for maintenance
• Recognise risk and be able to pre-empt mitigate & find resolution of.
• Support Warranty process as required

What are we looking for?

• Sound knowledge of material supply principles, procedures and practices
• IT skills in Microsoft Office and other applications used for stock management
• Ability to build personal credibility by demonstrating the organisation's values, building trust and proactively contributing to business success
• Strong team focus, proven ability to build productive relationships at all levels of the organisation
• Smooth relationships when difficult circumstances prevail and develop a culture of trust both within and outside the team
• Demonstrable wide ranging business knowledge & experience
• Is pro-active in the role and identifies improved ways of supporting the Company in managing their growth objectives
• Participate in team and one-to-one meetings, and undertake, as appropriate, training, relevant to the role as required
• Keep up to date with developments and policies and procedures within the Company, that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant internal/external factors e.g. Company policies and procedures, quality management standards, health and safety.
• Have a proactive approach to working within a team environment and be willing to support the team in other ways
