We have a fantastic opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join a thriving GP surgery based in the Tewkesbury area.

You will be joining a forward thinking and progressive centre, with a welcoming clinical team – the role has come about due to a recent expansion and as such you will be joining a diverse and established team of Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists and Paramedics!

The Practice is focused on giving a fantastic level of patient care to the encompassing network, has been rated ‘GOOD’ by CQC and upholds an excellent reputation locally.

Nurse Practitioner Job Description:

The content of this job description is designed to be inclusive of a broad range of tasks which may be performed by a nurse practitioner. Practices should take note that they should seek guidance from their medical defence organisation about the responsibilities which can be delegated to an advanced practice registered nurse at this grade for which the defence organisation will provide cover. The job description should then be edited accordingly and full training and assessment of competence undertaken and documented with the staff member.

This post is written to be an equivalent for Agenda for Change (AFC) Band 8. Duties will vary from practice to practice and this is a guide only. Practice accountability structures will also vary.

Scope Of  Nurse Practitioner Job In UK:

The Nurse Practitioner will be an experienced nurse who holds an appropriate, specific, advanced professional qualification which meets NMC requirements for high-level practice.

The Nurse Practitioner will work with the practice team to provide high-quality care which meets the needs of the practice’s patient population.

Working within defined professional boundaries, they will be able to make safe clinical decisions relating to assessment, diagnosis, treatment and review. The NP will demonstrate critical thinking ability.

The Nurse Practitioner will function as an integral part of the clinical leadership team in the practice, providing advice and guidance to the nursing team to ensure they deliver care based on the needs of the practice’s population.

Thorough knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures, medical and lab equipment and testing procedures,
medication. Considerable knowledge of interviewing and counselling techniques.

clients, establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data, use initiative and judgment, maintain effective working relationships with other related agencies, professionals and citizen groups, perform and record total physical examination, obtain vaginal, cervical, urethral and rectal cultures, Papanicolaou smears, and other laboratory specimens appropriate.

Locum Meds also recommend that you choose a course which has the V300 Independent Prescribing qualification (Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing) incorporated within the course, or you can study this qualification alongside Nurse Practitioner qualifications, make sure you achieve a V300 Independent Prescribing qualification as this will determine your prescribing rights as shown on the NMC website for each individual nurse.
