We currently have a very exciting opportunity for a Trainee Land Buyer, working for an exciting company in St Helens. The role will be identifying packages of Land and going through the whole purchasing process. This would suit a commercially minded candidate, someone who enjoys sales and earning commission on their work.

Main Duties & Objective

To provide support to the Land Manager and wider team by presenting opportunities across standalone and behind-the-meter at the front end of energy generation projects. The Land Consultant will be working to:

• Utilise experience and knowledge to source viable land across the country for multiple renewable technologies
• Engage with landowners & businesses to understand their needs/wants in relation to hosting a project.
• Identify viable project sites through leads and landowner/business engagement
• Vet & assess potential sites in collaboration with the BDMs and Land Manager as well as the wider Development Team
• Organise and co-ordinate meetings via Phone, Teams and Face-to-Face
• Deliver shortlisted potential sites for progression to Land Manager
• Provide high-level commercial markers for landowners and businesses in line with the market / their requirements
• Negotiate heads of terms with the landowner (or their respective agent)
• Keep landowners and businesses up to date with project timeframes / next steps/introductions throughout the wider team.

Person Specification

The ability to build strong relationships with landowners, agents, and business contacts and maintain those relationships on behalf of throughout the development process is essential. The ability to remain adaptable and aware/agile - providing the best possible solutions for all stakeholders involved in the development of a project. Provide knowledge of land buying, leasing, and stand-alone generation projects vs. rooftop vs. ground-mount solar provisions for private off-takers. An interest in these areas and renewable technologies would be beneficial.

The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to remain organised and focused on tasks. The ability to understand and follow a process from initial instruction through to delivery is essential. The role requires a good level of IT knowledge and analytical skills. The ability to understand and implement commercial and legal processes within BPP is essential (training provided).
