Resident Engagement Manager
Location: Ealing
Salary: £58,148 - £61,617 per annum inclusive (Grade 15)
The council are keen to continue developing a co-production approach with tenants which addresses local needs and helps demonstrate that residents’ concerns are at the heart of the changes they make.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to deliver and embed the council’s Resident Engagement Strategy and their work on the Consumer Standards.
Purpose of the role
- To strategically lead, manage, develop, and deliver a first class, modern and inventive resident engagement service focusing on the council’s relationship with its tenants and leaseholders.
- To deliver the resident engagement service in line with the Regulator of Social Housing’s Consumer Standards and provide the evidence of this.
- To deliver a resident engagement service based on co-production and in line the Council’s broader engagement strategy and style of delivery.
- To work with other teams in housing to deliver the resident engagement strategy and the style of engagement. Holding others to account and providing guidance as needed.
- To work strategically with other council departments and external stakeholders to deliver the resident engagement workplan and service improvements.
- To monitor and evaluate the impact of resident engagement involving tenants and leaseholders across the council’s housing service.
- To demonstrate that the council has incorporated the feedback from residents in the improvement of the service.
- To oversee the management of the community centres on HRA estates with responsibility for the associated budgets.
Skills and Experience
Essential knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to lead and motivate staff, community representatives and stakeholders to achieve high levels of performance with good attendance and engagement while contributing to council priorities.
- Experience and knowledge of the effective use of resident engagement to support delivery of more effective and targeted services.
- Experience of analysing data and identifying key themes and trends including experience of collecting and embedding the use of resident insight data.
- Detailed knowledge of Government policy and legislation relating to community cohesion, engagement, consultation, and co-regulation including in-depth knowledge of the Regulator of Social Housing’s Transparency, Influence and Accountability standard and able to deliver outcomes against the standard.
- Proven track record of strong people management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse audience using a wide range of communication tools.
- Clear understanding of the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion and commitment to acting in accordance with them when dealing with residents.
- Proven experience of working collaboratively or in partnership with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience of managing conflicting and competing priorities effectively.
- Ability to work confidently with IT software packages – e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
Essential qualification(s) and experience
- Leadership - Demonstrable experience of management of people and of Services.
- Experience - Extensive resident engagement experience within a social housing environment.
- Qualifications - Housing, community engagement, or other relevant related professional qualification. GCSE qualifications or equivalent in English and Maths.
