Service Care Solutions is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of the Lambeth Council for the position of Senior Youth Offending Service (YOS) Officer. This is a full-time role initially on a 3-month placement, with the potential for extension.
- Salary: £26.34 - £32.95 per hour

About the Role
The YOS Officer will manage a case load of youth justice cases, working with young people from diverse backgrounds. The role involves assessing, developing, and delivering interventions and activities that support young people's personal and social skills. Officers will work with young people subject to youth justice orders and those at risk of anti-social behaviour, crime, becoming NEET, and substance misuse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with young people at all stages of case management.
- Gather and analyze information to manage risk, re-offending, and well-being.
- Develop and review intervention plans with young people and families.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to manage youth justice cases.
- Attend professional meetings and present information to the court.
- Write reports for the Youth Magistrates and Crown Courts.
- Undertake Court duty, providing advice and support.
- Prepare bail assessments and support packages for court.
- Manage high-risk and complex cases and mentor less experienced staff.
- Liaise with key agencies as directed by the Team Manager.
- Convene and chair multi-agency meetings.
- Lead in improving practice and quality of assessments and plans.
- Act as a lead professional for allocated cases.
- Deliver evidence-based group or individual interventions.
- Adopt a restorative approach in engaging young people.
- Maintain case management records in IT client information systems.
- Contribute to team/project/service plans and procedures.
- Prepare, deliver, and participate in group work programs.
- Meet fixed deadlines and competing priorities.
- Attend secure estates, Police stations, and community facilities.
- Attend team meetings, case manager/practitioner meetings, and other relevant meetings.
- Conduct home visits outside 9-5 hours.
- Carry out duties in accordance with Lambeth's Equal Opportunities policy.
- Participate in the Council's appraisal scheme and personal development plan.
- Work in the evening or at weekends as required.
- Comply with health and safety legislation.
