Job description

HRP Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our Plymouth, MA office. Primary job functions will include a variety of interesting and diverse environmental investigation and remedial support projects such as soil, groundwater and air sampling, storm water compliance inspections, environmental due diligence investigations, remediation management and oversight, and managing and training junior staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Groundwater, surface water, and other environmental media sampling
• Completion of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
• Remediation oversight and preparation of daily field reports
• Soil stockpile sampling and tracking
• Assistance and performance of building hazardous material surveys (i.e. asbestos, lead paint)
• Maintenance and monitoring of various environmental remediation systems
• Problem solving for a wide variety of clients and situations
• Ability to learn and apply standard operating procedures with an attention to detail
• Managing and training junior staff

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the environmental field
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current refresher training
• BS/MS in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or similar major a plus
• Proof of organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to write in English
• Basic computer skills including proficiency with Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Possess the ability to traverse a job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material and variation in elevation (mud, gravel, rutted ground etc.)
• Be able to wear standard PPE, (i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles)
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
• As this is primarily a field-based position, the ability and desire to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions is required
• Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
• Self-motivated, energetic professional
• Previous experience managing and/or training staff preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Arc GIS a plus
• Understanding of the Massachusetts Contingency Plan
