Location: Lewes, UK
Salary: 25,000 – 45,000 (depending on experience)

Role Overview: As the Construction Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial management of our construction projects. Your expertise in bookkeeping and familiarity with construction accounting principles will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment collection.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial transactions.
- Prepare and process payroll for employees and subcontractors.
- Maintain records of project expenses, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities for construction projects.
- Generate financial reports and provide analysis to support decision–making.
- Liaise with project managers and suppliers to resolve any financial discrepancies or issues.
- Stay updated on relevant tax regulations and compliance requirements within the construction industry.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably within the construction sector.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with experience using accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record–keeping.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast–paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
- Knowledge of construction–specific accounting software (e.g., Sage Construction, QuickBooks Contractor) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
