Job description

A Vacancy at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for x2 Full Time Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialists in the York Sleep Service. We are looking to recruit highly motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable individuals to join the Sleep and Ventilation Team.

We will provide the successful candidate with a wonderful opportunity to practice and develop their skills and expertise in the diagnosis and management of patients with sleep related respiratory conditions and other complex conditions requiring home ventilation. We do not require you to have experience in sleep medicine, but you should have enthusiasm for respiratory medicine and sleep disorders and be keen to learn.

The successful candidates will play an active role in this busy department and will be involved with the setting up and the analysis of sleep studies.

You will take a leading role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients with combined obstructive/central sleep apnoea, requiring continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. Also, you will initiate patients on non-invasive ventilators (NIV) and be involved in troubleshooting any on-going problems.

The role includes being actively involved in the follow-up and ongoing review of patients initiated onto CPAP/NIV therapy via face to face and virtual platforms.

The successful candidates will be required to work closely within the nursing team and within the multi-disciplinary team, which includes consultants and other clinical physiologists in the department. Therefore, it is essential that you are self-motivated and have good communication skills.

You must be able to work independently (in line with protocols), be flexible and adaptable in your attitude to work and enjoy being part of a very busy service. We will provide you with the training and support you need in order to gain the professional satisfaction you deserve as you help us care for our diverse patient base.
