They are looking for a Financial Accountant to join their small established team in their Wakefield office and be responsible for the provision of advice and information, interpretation of policy, implementation of changes and the management of all aspects of the organisation's financial control function.
Job Description
Key responsibilities for a the Financial Accountant:
- Oversee and provide effective leadership to all areas of the finance team i.e. technical accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, income and the management accounts function for the group.
- Support the Director of Finance and Head of finance in reviewing and maintaining internal financial control procedures and
- Supporting the preparation of reports to the board and executive team on Key financial performance indicators
- Liaise with partner agencies/ stakeholders to resolve queries, produce and communicate reporting information
- Support the Head of finance by providing technical support to senior managers and finance staff on taxation issues
- Manage the annual accounts process
- Responsible for ensuring all payroll runs are reconciled and ensure effective reporting and controls are in place
- Liaise with internal and external auditors when appropriate to ensure they receive a full and timely response to any queries
- Support the Head of Finance in monitoring the capital programme and provide financial support
- Support the costing and financial input to business proposals and business cases
- Manage the immediate finance team
- Contribute to the development of the budget-setting model with the Head of Finance and the Finance Managers
The Successful Applicant
The successful Financial Accountant will have:
- Accountancy qualification - CIMA/ACCA/ACA
- Experience working in a similar role
- Knowledge of financial ledgers and reporting systems
- Specialist knowledge of financial and accounting procedures e.g UK GAAP
- Ability to communicate business information effectively to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Experience producing reports for senior management
- Budget setting, financial planning and management reporting
- Experience in operating financial ledgers
- Development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
- Experience managing, personal development, mentoring and supervision
