About Us: Our client is a renowned leader in Industrial Gases, Process Gas applications, and Gasification Technology. As they continue to expand their presence and capabilities in these domains, they are seeking a dynamic individual to join the Mechanical Systems team as a Principal Mechanical / Piping Materials Engineer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead capital projects for our clients owned plants as well as those engineered and constructed for external clients.
Responsibilities:
- Lead as the Piping Materials expert for major projects.
- Control project budgets (manhours and materials), schedule, and quality of deliverables, with thorough reporting on project status.
- Provide support for proposal and project planning, including developing functional execution strategies and manhour estimates aligned with project scope and schedule.
- Develop Piping Line Class Specifications tailored to specific service and project requirements.
- Perform critical tasks such as wall thickness calculations, specification of piping components on P&IDs, and creation of requisition packages for various piping items.
- Review vendor offerings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical acceptance and adherence to project commitments.
- Develop paint, insulation requirements, and pressure test guidelines tailored to project construction needs.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary vendor squad checks and maintain internal specifications, work instructions, and job aids.
Minimum Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in industrial piping materials engineering
- Proven ability to lead as a specialist engineer on projects and coordinate workload and resources effectively.
- Experience with software for wall thickness calculations such as Red Bag PCC is a plus.
- Understanding of Material Management processes on projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience withSmartPlant tools (P&ID, Materials, Reference Data/3D).
