Client Delivery Lead - UK based-Remote

bigspark, a UK based consultancy delivering next level data platforms and solutions with a focus on exciting technologies including Apache Spark, Apache Kafka and working on projects within Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Streaming and Data Science is looking for a Head of Delivery to join our team on a permanent basis in a UK remote, work from home capacity with some attendance to client sites where necessary. We provide the backbone for modern analytics to our clients through expertise in DevOps, distributed computing, machine learning and adoption of proven open source projects. We specialise in backend development, infrastructure automation and performance engineering for data workloads at scale. The Delivery Lead will play a key role in formalising a bigspark agile delivery model, maintaining appropriate levels of chargeability and lead the creation of a related delivery practice to support the overall growth and maturity of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivery Excellence
Common processes and controls for all projects
Consistent delivery methodology
Quality assurance and reporting
Troubled project correction
Consistent project reporting
Develop a new reporting model

Supply and Demand
Smooth resourcing peaks and troughs
Manage incoming sales pipeline through to delivery
Utilise bench to move the business forward
Maintain skills, levels, personnel records
Integrate with People for recruitment and performance management

Increase GP
Establish ways to improve profit per project
Ensure new business can be delivered
Building a project finance model that can be used, including overhead allocation

Sales
New business farming in delivery
Contract renewals and extensions
Develop client relationships
Support packaging of capability

Delivery Centres
Establish clear off/on/nearshore strategy
Develop standards for execution and communication
Underpin commercial direction

Shift from assistance to performance model

Harvest repeatable delivery models
Hire PM layer as required
Support taking on greater client accountability
Augmentation to outcome management
Formalise a bigspark agile delivery model and create a related delivery practice

Skills, experience and qualifications:

• 10+ years in a Delivery Management role at senior levels
• Commercial mindset with a clear understanding of the commercial requirements of running a consulting business, their contributions in supporting these and in ensuring consulting staff are delivering against their commercial responsibilities
• Customer & business relationship building and growing at all levels, including C level
• Strong experience in negotiating resolutions with customers, and identifying sales opportunities and working with Account Management to drive delivery led growth
• Demonstrable ability in developing and managing high performing teams, achieving effective results, with the ability to flex management style according to individual need
• Experience in designing and setting KPI and targets and managing to budget, and all associated reporting
• Evidence of account planning and growth in previous roles
• Broad knowledge of IT environments, tooling, systems, and business impacts
• Ability to design and manage complex organisational structures and teams to facilitate high-quality service delivery and operational efficiencies
• Self-driven, collaborative approach with a desire to inspire teams and evangelise customer experience
