Transport Planner
Pay: £13.40 p/h
Hours: 4 ON 4 OFF, 07.00-19.00 (60 mins unpaid break)
Location: Widnes, WA8 0PB
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Pertemps are recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to work at a busy distribution site, based in Widnes.
As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in optimising our client's transportation operations to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of goods to their customers.
Duties will include:
- Coordinating the assignment of drivers.
- Assigning drivers to routes while considering Working Time Directive regulations.
- Utilising the Microlise Transportation Management System.
- Monitoring and managing the fleet to minimise downtime and maximise utilisation.
- Frequent utilisation of spreadsheets to a significant extent.
- Generating reports and key performance indicators for management review.
- Staying up to date with transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ensuring quick and effective responses to unforeseen challenges.
Skills and experience required:
- Proven experience in transport planning within a distribution or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in using route optimisation software and transportation management systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
