Senior Program Manager

Serco have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Program Manager to join the team to support the Operational Delivery Team/ Contract Manager and more Junior Program Managers across the Radar Portfolio in all aspects of new business and organic growth management.

The key purpose of this role is to be responsible for the effective management of all Radar Contract Change Requests and related processes supporting organic and new business growth activities within the radar portfolio, ensuring we achieve full SMS compliance. Furthermore, our Senior Program Manager will develop and support business compliance activities across the Radar business ensuring a pragmatic and consistent approach based on best management practices across the capability in line with the SMS, ensuring effective risk management, robust governance, and effective utilisation of lessons learnt.

Our Senior Program Manager position will be home based however occasional travel will be required for meetings to Waterlooville/ London and visits to our radar sites.

Main Accountabilities:

Management

- Supporting the development and management of the Radar strategy.
- Contributing to regular reviews of the Radar plans, monitoring, and taking action to ensure business targets are met.
- Delivering accurate and timely reports in line with the Radar operational demands.
- Ensuring effective financial management is in place to achieve P&L targets.
- Assisting with the development of future growth plans for the Radar business, to include continuous improvement initiatives, stakeholder engagement, risk and compliance to support successful re-bids and new projects.

Leadership

- Assist the development of a departmental talent and succession plan, which identifies key roles and ensures resilience and development of management capability.
- Assist with the delivery plans which increase employee engagement.

Governance

- Ensuring appropriate corporate governance is in place to comply with assurance and other legal requirements and ensure that contract requirements are effectively delivered across the Radar business.
- Leveraging services from across Defence to drive best practice and innovation across the business and promote Radar business capabilities to the organisation, key business stakeholders and growing customer base.

Communications

- Representing Serco in the development of relationships with key customers, potential customers, partners, and stakeholders to anticipate and meet customer’s existing and future needs and enhance Serco’s reputation.
- Build on existing relationships to achieve a high level of trust to create strong relationships with key business\project stakeholders by demonstrating an understanding of their technical and business issues and requirements.
- Support the management teams in ensuring that all departmental employees understand and implement the strategy/plans and are motivated to achieve their objectives.
- Responsible for promoting and embedding Business Continuity across the Radar Business.
- Support the Radar business and Space and Security leadership team in attending relevant conferences and industry events to help promote Serco Space and Security, and Defence.

What you’ll need:

- Able to achieve SC/DV Security clearance.
- Hold a recognised Management Qualification or have relevant experience.
- Demonstrate experience in managing diverse and complex technical contracts.
- Fully conversant with governance policies and procedures.
- Able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Have excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills with a drive for outstanding customer service and high-performance culture.
- Strong influencing skills, both with internal and external stakeholders through excellent communication and written skills at all levels.
- Proven track record of successful management of technical teams for bid and operational delivery within a Defence environment.
- Experience in working in a flexibly resourced people environment.
- Able to build effective partnerships with stakeholders and delivering growth through interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proven track record of successful delivery in complex and volatile environments.
- Experience of leading, engaging, developing, and motivating teams, communicating direction, developing best talent and capabilities.
- Knowledge and experience of recognised opportunity and project management methods and techniques.
