Service Manager
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey (Hybrid)
Salary: Circa £28k + Excellent Benefits
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
The Client:
Our client, a leading charitable organisation in the health and social care sector, specialises in personal care services, including washing, dressing, and operates a Day Unit for early-onset dementia.
The Role:
As a Service Manager , you will report to the Senior Service Manager, overseeing a team of care workers, and ensuring adherence to high standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and guide Care Support Workers (CSWs) / Care Support Assistants (CSAs) through supervisions and staff meetings.
- Act as the first-tier support for out-of-hours assistance to care workers.
- Efficiently roster resource hours within the sector, maximising utilisation.
- Address HR / Employee Relations concerns, following organisational fact-finding processes.
- Monitor and manage sickness, ensuring timely return-to-work documentation.
- Drive recruitment and interviews for CSWs / CSAs in the allocated sector.
- Respond effectively to client / carer inquiries, maintaining clear record-keeping.
- Lead inductions for new CSWs / CSAs and perform 70% reviews of service provision.
- Provide direct support for client visits at short notice.
- Maintain proactive management of CSW / CSA profiles on the HR system.
- Submit clear sector performance reports to Senior Service Manager weekly.
- Monitor and direct the quality of reports from care workers through spot checks.
- Evaluate client support documents adhering to sector-specific company procedures.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Previously worked as a Service Manager or in a similar role.
- Previous line management experience, ideally in a care setting.
- Possess Care Certificate and knowledge of CQC regulations & Health Care Act.
- Strong understanding of (unpaid) carer needs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Valid UK driving licence with a roadworthy car.
Desirable:
- Previous experience with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Dementia strategies.
- Possess management experience in multi- disciplinary team.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
- Background in writing audit risk assessments and care plans.
