Join EDF as a Civil Engineer, and you’ll join one of the most exciting and challenging projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity...

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, oversees the design (basic design) and the realisation (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects.

EPR-E is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of civil studies relative to your building. You will be supporting a team of subcontractors provided by the UK122x (detailer in charge of design) to update and modify the relevant deliverables, with the suitable quality process.

What you’ll be doing…

• Delivering Civil Design assessments to support the construction with strong connections with other disciplines.
• Leading the quality relative to modification of the design package on your scope, including surveillance.
• Leading and monitoring the production of the impacted deliverables.
• Interacting within the JDO with the client (project and intelligent customer) to support the overall project.
• Supporting the JDO civil team lead regarding the overall needs of the civil team (production, technical, quality).
• Approving deliverables previously issued by the back-office teams and updated by the JDO teams.
• Looking over continuity and the consistency of the design modified by the JDO teams.
• Making sure that methods, referential, tools, process and delegated authority from the back-office teams are complied with.
• Looking over the interests of the Responsible Designer in the JDO daily, with respect to topics such as intellectual property and responsibility of the Responsible Designer further to modification of their design by the JDO teams
• Producing quality and the necessary deliverables to support the project.

Who you are…

Your background may include some of the following:

• Civil engineer with experience in design of buildings in the nuclear industry or with experience on subjects at the interface between design and construction.
• Knowledge of the ETC-C code and safety requirements are recommended to answer to the requests.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software.
• Experience working in a multicultural environment.
• Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine.
