Role Purpose
Interactive Instant Win Games (IIWGs) are digital games loved by National Lottery players. With game types including online Scratchcards, Bingo, word, match 3, dice and board games, and with prizes ranging from £1 up to £1 Million – there is something for everyone!
We are looking for an IIWG Product Manager to join the team and support the Head of IIWG to safely and responsibly, innovate and expand the Interactive Instant Win Game category, raising millions for Good Causes.
The IIWG Product Manager will be responsible for managing the IIWG Product Team and will play a pivotal role delivering the game roadmap and strategy, including accountability and ownership of the full lifecycle of a number of games. The right candidate will have a keen interest and passion for gaming, with a proven track record of delivering game titles and projects to required deadlines. They will be required to work cross-functionally with internal teams and stakeholders, as well as being comfortable working closely with internal and external game studios to brief game requirements, discuss game feedback and propose ideas/solutions to challenges.
This is a permanent role. We offer hybrid working with the expectation that the successful candidate will attend our Watford HQ twice a week and occasional visits to our London office.
Requirements
- Support the Head of IIWG on the roadmap and portfolio strategy to ensure innovative and appealing games are always available to National Lottery players.
- Deliver the game roadmap strategy, including managing the Production Schedule to ensure game timings and milestones are agreed with studios and game production remains on-track.
- Take ownership of the full lifecycle of a number of games. Brief game requirements into studios, arrange kick off calls and continue to work with them throughout the design, development and QA phases, agreeing game milestones, providing creative and build review feedback, creation of prize structures and game rules and writing working pages to ensure the game vision is executed to a high quality and delivered to the required timelines.
- Own more complex titles and the delivery of new initiatives to drive category innovation.
- Work with the internal and external studios to build strong relationships and ensure that games are developed in line with the game specifications and timings, including any regulatory requirements.
- Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and teams to gain approval for game procedures, prize structures, winner processes and clearance of games through the Governance Group.
- Lead and develop the IIWG Product Team, including the creation of individual development plans.
- Work with the Product & Portfolio Lead and Scratchcards Product Manager to build synergies in the retail and digital products.
- Work with our platform provider to support key tasks including supplier integration and delivery of new and improved features and functionality from the transformation backlog.
- Manage game development research in line with the IIWG strategy and game development timings, to understand the consumer appeal of games and build in learnings to future games.
- Keep up to date with market trends in the lottery and iGaming space, to help drive portfolio innovation.
- Support the Head of IIWG and Product & Portfolio Lead with weekly trading.
Key Skills & Experience
Must Have
- Games industry experience, with a keen interest and passion for gaming.
- Demonstratable knowledge and understanding of Interactive Instant Win Games.
- Ability to write and maintain game briefs and design documentation to a high standard.
- Proven experience of managing and delivering high performing game content.
- Understanding of what makes a game engaging, appealing and fun to play.
- Agile product management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects and hit deadlines.
- A technical and mathematical background with experience of designing and discussing game rules and prize structures with studios.
- Understanding of research techniques and consumer behaviour, sufficient to brief and interpret research.
- A great team player, who is ambitious, naturally organised, collaborative and enthusiastic.
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrable oral and written communication skills.
Nice To Have (Differentiators)
- Previous line management experience.
- Experience working with platform providers and a technical understanding of game aggregator tools.
