Job description
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a high calibre Information Analyst to support our engineering consultancy capability across the UK. As part of the Commercial Team you will be responsible for providing accurate information services and solutions to our clients as well as our own engineering and commercial teams. The information/content you capture will be anything from resolving an engineering problem to providing air traffic control trends during volcanic eruptions. The role will be instrumental in helping our consultants deliver accurate, detailed and reliable technical advice to our broad multi-sector client base.
The role is Part Time (2-3 days/week) and based out of Leatherhead. We have adopted a smart/hybrid working culture, but is highly preferable that you live within commuter distance.
The Role:
- Managing the Information Centre at RINA and provide awareness of the services to both internal and external clients/users.
- Providing the information services to external clients and the RINA Team
- Manage the client subscriptions.
- Manage the RINA library, maintain the check-in/check-out system and manage loans from the British Library.
- Work closely with the client to ensure the correct question is asked so that you are best informed as to what to search for.
- Develop an information search strategy utilising multiple platforms and documentations (i.e. internet, standards, articles, legislation, conference proceedings, books, etc).
- Legislation Alert. Scan the UK government Daily Lists and the Official Journal of the EU for relevant information. Compile a summarised document with relevant information, and share it with subscribing clients monthly.
- Contribute to editorial for quarterly newsletters.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree qualified in Information Science (preferred) or related discipline such as Data Management, Information Research, or Archives & Records Management.
- At least two years’ experience in some of the following: Boolean searching, IEEExplore; Proquest; British Standards Institution (BSI).
- Experience of obtaining and managing information within an organisation dealing with complex subjects.
- Strong ability to rapidly disseminate data from large data sources, evaluate it and distribute it.
- Experience of contributing to writing and/or reviewing technical documentation.
- Enthusiastic, well organised, have an eye for detail/accuracy and can prioritise well.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; track record of managing client expectations and ability to challenge when required.
- Have a passion for Information Research/Science.
