Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities The role:
We are looking for a collaborative and enthusiastic NGS scientist to join our Protein Engineering team. You will be working closely with a Senior Scientist and colleagues across R&D to contribute to the Immunocore’s TCR discovery and engineering process. The role is laboratory based and involves processing samples to generate NGS libraries for sequencing on Illumina and/or Nanopore platforms. A strong interest in application of newest sequencing approaches is a key requirement.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide ongoing NGS support for pipeline and R&D projects
• Prepare libraries for sequencing following established protocols
• Plan and design experiments with instruction and guidance from manager
• Independently or in team, test and introduce new methodologies
• Help define and write SOPs
• Maintain the NGS laboratory (equipment, reagents, consumables, safe working practices)
• Keep detailed records of research activities
• Analyse and report results of experiments in writing and in meetings
• Actively participate in team meetings and lab organisation
Experience and Knowledge:
• Essential
• Extensive experience in library preparation (Illumina and/or Nanopore) and understanding of Next-Generation Sequencing technologies
• Experience in primer design and PCR troubleshooting
• Experience in basic molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction and quantification, PCR, (RT-)qPCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, molecular cloning
• Ability to design, execute and interpret experiments to address relevant scientific questions
• Strong team player with good communication skills, high attention to detail and good time management
• 1+ years of research experience in industry or academia

• Desirable
• Previous experience in protein engineering, genomics research, phage and/or mammalian display
• Knowledge of basic sequencing data QC and bioinformatics workflows

Education and Qualifications:
• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related discipline with 0-2years experience; may include postdoctoral experience.
