Job description

This opportunity is based in Glasgow and candidates will need to be able to commute to Glasgow 1-2 days a week and be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship. 

Detillens is working with a global and top tier bank as they develop and grow their Glasgow technology capability. We are hiring for an experienced Java Developer to work as a consultant.

Working onsite at one of the world’s top tier financial services businesses provides a significant platform for building a professional technology career in financial services. We need an experienced software engineer, to come into a team working on exciting and significant technology infrastructure upgrade in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Role Profile: 

• The role offers a great opportunity for someone with a strong professional grounding in Java who is looking for an environment and opportunity that will challenge and develop their career in a high achieving team and business. 
• You will work in an agile team. 

Essential Skills: 

• Core experience as a Java Back-End Developer is essential.
• Experience developing real-time applications highly beneficial. 
• SQL and database skills preferable. 
• Experience/Exposure working with Angular is beneficial but not essential.

Desired Skills: 

• Experience of working in a fast paced financial services environment as an experienced software engineer would be advantageous. But experience within a complex corporate environment would otherwise be useful. 
• Distributed platforms and technology experience would highly beneficial. 
• Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills 
• Highly innovative, motivated and effective team player 
• Willingness to learn new technologies 

The Successful Candidate will: 

• Be accountable, i.e. taking full ownership of allocated tasks 
• Be organised and delivery-focused, with attention to detail 
• Be articulate in verbal and written communication with all types of project stakeholders: colleagues, users, management, etc. 
• Be comfortable operating with a strong level of autonomy 
• Be pro-active in general, taking own initiatives to prevent risks/issues
