Design Engineer
Job Description
- Preparation of full design packs to include full sets of drawings, BOMs, costings & routings using both Solidworks & Autocad packages
- System maintenance of Design packs
- Preparing quotations for all customer enquires including quotations for new products and package reviews
- Responsible for new product development and introduction, establishing suitable processing techniques and launching to production floor
- Full responsibility for management and maintenance of Engineering Change Order system
- Operating in line with lean manufacturing principles and utilising company’s existing Kanban system
- Monitor and analyse current systems of production and proactively propose improvements in line with our continuous improvement systems
- Successfully implement plans to troubleshoot any production related issues and proactively introduce measures to assist in the improvement of workshop efficiency levels.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality department to establish, implement containment processes and undertaking root cause analysis as a means to implementing processes to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Assist in the management of quality control and non-conformances processes for engineering
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. A Master's degree may be preferred for senior positions.
- Proven experience in product design and development, preferably in a relevant industry.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) and other relevant engineering software tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, with a focus on design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools for design validation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey ideas and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs within set timelines.
