This newly created senior role is an exciting opportunity to lead on climate change and sustainability with a focus on waste strategy, resource management and circular economy.
The postholder will report to the Strategic Lead - Environment & Infrastructure, and manage an effective multi-disciplinary team of Climate Change & Zero Waste professionals who are championing climate action to achieve our goal of net zero.
The postholder will lead and co-ordinate the development of key strategies, taking account of national policy and legislation and oversee the delivery and management of action plans. This currently includes the Perth & Kinross Climate Change Strategy & Action Plan, Perth & Kinross Waste Management Plan, and requires the development of a new strategy to move us towards a Circular Economy.
Qualifications/experience:
- Degree in a relevant subject or substantial and demonstrable experience in strategy development and project delivery.
- Significant appropriate experience in one or more of the following areas - climate change, sustainable development, environmental policy, resource management, planning.
- A chartership from a relevant institute is desirable.
- Project/programme management skills.
- Experience of budget management and monitoring.
You must have a valid driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
