Job description

Main Duties and Responsibilities Plan and prepare Medicare ambulances to meet strict deadlines daily and any other operational requirements. To prepare ambulances to the agreed standard ready for operational duty. This will include as a minimum: The cleaning of the inside of the ambulance including all surfaces and equipment to an agreed IPC standards using the correct cleaning products provided by Medicare. The decontamination of the inside of the ambulance including all surfaces and equipment to an agreed IPC. The External cleaning of the ambulance when required. The function and assurance checks on the monitors. The checking of stock levels of equipment and clinical and non-clinical consumables. The correct loading of response bags with particular attention to ensure all items are within the individual use by/service dates. Ensure the ambulances are stocked to the necessary load lists for the NHS contract requirements. To check the safety mechanism within the vehicle for defects and report any found immediately if they cannot be rectified (damage to seat belts, automatic tensioners not working, damage to the trolley bed mattress). To check the levels of the vehicle including fuel, AdBlue, screen washer, engine oil and any others as required. Where the vehicle levels are below the minimum level, replenish to the acceptable level. To manage workload and priorities without direct supervision. To identify shortages in stock levels and regularly place orders of medical equipment/consumables in accordance with Medicares internal processes, accepting delivery, recording, storing, monitoring, replenishing items as necessary. To accurately record the withdrawal of stock. To undertake routine and ad-hoc stock takes to verify the accuracy of recording systems. To identify losses of equipment and stock on returning vehicles and ensure this equipment is replaced. To safely move ambulances around the depot for refuelling, maintaining levels of vehicle consumables, cleaning, parking, vehicle testing and maintenance. To use correctly and ensure the adequate availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to undertake the activities of the role. Where deficiencies exist ensures prompt reporting action to the Head of NHS Operations. Ensure appropriate steps are taken to protect the environment, the health and safety of Associate Medical Professionals, employees, patients and visitors. To record any adverse incidents or near misses to the Head of NHS Operations and accurately record on Medicares incident reporting system. Quality Perform cleaning duties to promote and maintain a clean and infection-free patient treatment environment to mitigate the potential transmission of Healthcare Associated Infections. Maintains vehicle and working area cleanliness which meets Medicares audit criterion for IPC in accordance with the companys internal procedures. Ensure the cleaning bay is fit for purpose, tidy and cleaned on a weekly basis. Verify that the service tags on equipment are in date and rectify any equipment that requires servicing. Additional Requirements Maintaining an effective system of stock management in accordance with Medicares internal systems and processes. Maintain an effective system for stocking the ambulances to ensure that out of date equipment is easily identifiable and replaced. Maintain an effective system for asset tracking for medical devices such as the LUCAS3 devices, LifePak 15 monitors, Zoll, Corpulse and AEDs. To ensure the timely communication of minimum stock levels to ensure equipment orders can be placed within adequate time. To ensure medical gas orders are placed with adequate time to ensure that the company does not run short of medical gases.
