Job description

We are currently looking for a supportive and caring Teaching Assistant to join this secondary mainstream school in Enfield. This is a full time, long-term role for the rest of the academic year and upon review there will be an opportunity to go permanent.

The School:

This diverse secondary school in the heart of Enfield caters for boys aged 11-16. It is a Catholic faith school but welcomes students and staff from all religions making it a rich and diverse community. The school have a wide catchment area and are always oversubscribed.

The school also has a Speech and Language Resource Base (SLRB) for students with an EHCP and a diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). There is a maximum of 10 students in the base.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Supporting the teacher in delivering the curriculum
• Assisting with the preparation of lesson plans and resources
• Supporting individual pupils with their learning, including those with additional needs
• Helping to manage behaviour in the classroom
• Supporting the teacher in the assessment and reporting of pupil progress
• Contributing to the wider life of the school

• Has experience working with children or young people
• Has a good understanding of special educational needs
• Is committed to helping all pupils achieve their full potential
• Is able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Has a positive and enthusiastic approach to working with children
• Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
