As a Technical Project Manager, you will assist and devise technical solutions for broadcast services, working in tandem with Operations and Engineering to ensure continuity of services and delivery from across the business. Projects will vary in complexity from small single OBs to large host-based operations, with the potential for working internationally on certain events.
The role incorporates the management and maintenance of existing business relationships as well as looking for new ways to maximise the growth and development of further business opportunities.
You will be expected to take a proactive approach to developing revenue generating opportunities, gathering sales information from a network of client contacts. You will work to achieve targets and deliver account management to existing and prospective clients and convert market intelligence from multiple channels into future revenue streams.
This new vacancy will suit someone with prior experience and knowledge in delivering OB’s, whether from a commercial or engineering background. The ideal person will be able to demonstrate exceptional time management skills and know how to prioritise a dynamic and ever shifting workload and adhere to deadlines; whilst also possessing the ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure.
Responsibilities and Experience
- You will be expected to take a proactive approach to motivate, support, and empower colleagues as you collaborate with all NEP UK functions to deliver jobs to specification and budget.
- Generate timely, accurate quotations with suitable margins in response to existing clients and new prospective enquiries; follow-up, discuss and negotiate with clients and prospects to secure new business for all business sectors. Devise budgets and control them in line with revenue and quotations.
- Manage, liaise, meet and greet key client stakeholders and representatives, to ensure client satisfaction and future growth. Establish meetings with clients and forge new and ongoing relationships to build NEP performance and identify new business opportunities.
- You will be required to devise and assist in the creation of technical project solutions, with the most appropriate broadcast technical equipment and resource expertise available to the NEP UK business unit, offering a superior service for clients, working in tandem with colleagues to ensure continuity of services and delivery from across the business.
- You will harness your broadcast technical equipment knowledge and systems specification expertise, knowledge of transmission paths and communications and broadcast systems to create technical solutions leveraging NEP UK broadcast technical equipment and resource expertise. Together with your project design, scoping, resourcing, and deployment skills, you will be a knowledge source to support the delivery of projects.
- Provide promptly planning sheets, timelines, equipment requirement orders and schematics, block diagrams and/or technical drawings to help the team and stakeholders understand the technical requirements.
- Be the primary point of contact and client, production, and crew liaison whilst on location. Manage and react to any changes brought on by unforeseen circumstances or changes by the client.
- You will ideally be adept in the use of CAD and other System Schema Design tools to draw design solutions and demonstrate them internally to share your thinking and work with department heads to understand the challenge and be effective in tackling it, as One Team
- Arrange and agree final invoice amounts upon completion of a job with your client and invoice in a timely manner. You will have knowledge and oversight of all costs, liaising with the coordination and finance teams regularly for completeness.
- Be responsible for site surveys and take ownership for health and safety on location including preparation of risk assessments, method statements, reporting of breaches or near miss reports, and accident reports if necessary.
- Make suggestions and contributions for capital expenditure and facilities equipment that would add value to our clients and delivery, improving NEP financial performance; seek ways to reduce overheads and costs (direct and indirect on all projects).
Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant broadcast or production experience with minimum 5 years’ experience in Outside Broadcast with good technical knowledge and understanding of Live / recorded production capturing techniques.
- Relevant broadcast systems, operations, technical and engineering knowledge and experience across video, sound, and high definition. Knowledge of transmission paths and communications, equipment knowledge and specifications.
- General health and safety awareness and compliance with risk assessments is required; SMSTS or SSSTS training is advantageous, but training can be provided.
- Project and people management skills are essential for delivery and to motivate and inspire those around you. Strong and confident communicator with positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and with demonstrable time management expertise to help prioritise workload and adhere to deadlines.
- Proactive and self-motivated; ability to use initiative.
- Willingness to travel in the UK and globally for the delivery of world-renowned events; full clean UK driving licence.
