Job Opportunity: SEMH Teaching Assistant at Ofsted Good Secondary School in Stockport

Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to thrive in an educational setting? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted Good secondary school in Stockport. This full-time position offers stability from after Easter until the end of the academic year, with the potential for permanent placement based on exceptional performance.

Role Overview: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Individualized Support: Offering one-to-one support to students with SEMH needs, assisting them in managing their emotions, developing coping strategies, and accessing the curriculum effectively.
  2. Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour management strategies to promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students, fostering a sense of belonging and security.
  3. Collaborative Intervention: Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for students with SEMH needs, ensuring their specific needs are addressed comprehensively.
  4. Emotional Regulation: Providing guidance and encouragement to help students regulate their emotions, manage stress and anxiety, and build resilience.
  5. Engagement and Motivation: Engaging students in learning activities tailored to their interests and abilities, motivating them to participate actively in classroom activities and academic tasks.
  6. Progress Monitoring: Monitoring student progress and behaviour, collecting data, and providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs to inform ongoing support strategies.
  7. Crisis Intervention: Responding promptly and effectively to crisis situations, providing calm and reassuring support to students in distress and following school policies and procedures for safeguarding and intervention.
