Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEMH Behaviour Mentor to work with students aged 14 and above. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, promoting positive behaviour management strategies, and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support and guidance to students with SEMH needs, helping them develop coping strategies, self-regulation skills, and positive behaviour patterns.
- Implement individualized behaviour plans and interventions tailored to the needs of each student, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Establish positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to facilitate effective behaviour management and academic progress.
- Monitor and track student progress, behaviour incidents, and interventions, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to identify triggers for challenging behaviour and develop proactive strategies to prevent and address issues.
- Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies as needed to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students' SEMH needs.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management principles and strategies, including positive behaviour support techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of students.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to changing situations.
- Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning in the field of SEMH support and behaviour management.
