Job description
Weybourne Group is the holding company for the Dyson technology company, Dyson Farming, and other diverse business interests. Outside the operating businesses, Weybourne manages an investment portfolio and provides financial and other professional support to the Dyson Family, their estates, and personal business interests. The group covers a wide range of sectors including farming, financial and commercial property investments and residential property. We currently have a team of around 75 employees whose roles cover accountancy, financial control, tax and treasury, commercial property and financial investment management, security, audit, IT and HR based in both the UK and Singapore (where the Group Head Office is located).
The Assistant Accountant will provide core accounting activities i.e. bookkeeping, management accounting and reporting, and associated administrative activities, to the Finance Manager and other senior Finance staff.
Requirements
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Preparing and posting monthly accounting entries, including prepayments & accruals.
- Maintaining the fixed asset register, ensuring all transactions are properly authorised and accurately coded.
- Accounting for internal billing and recharges including raising of invoices and preparation of letters of engagement.
- Ensuring the integrity of the financial numbers including preparing balance sheet reconciliations and other month end schedules.
- Support the monthly group intercompany process.
- Prepare VAT returns including supporting analysis as required, prepare accounts analysis to support Corporation tax returns.
- Preparing monthly management accounts in accordance with agreed policies and procedures including commentary and analysis against budget for certain smaller entities.
- Preparing the statutory financial statements for certain smaller entities.
- Support the preparation of budget and cashflow forecast information as required.
- Support the Finance Manager and other senior finance staff with other ad hoc tasks as required.
Additional responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships across the company and other family office entities.

- Proactively promoting and maintaining high standards of work – taking initiative to resolve and/or draw attention to areas that don’t meet required standards or any issues that arise.

Person specification / Core Competencies:
- AAT qualified, with a desire to continue professional qualifications
- Previous experience in a role as an assistant accountant, or similar position (involving most of the key tasks listed above).
- Commitment to meeting demanding reporting deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Computer literate, with good skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience of an ERP system desirable.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds.
- Willing and able to take responsibility and ownership for tasks.
- Ability to work autonomously when required, whilst still possessing strong teamwork skills.
- Strong sense of discretion, appreciating the confidentiality of the work.
- Keen to suggest improvements to current ways of working.
