NPI Project Engineer
Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
£40-45k
The NPI Project Engineer will manage the introduction of all new products and will guide the engineering team in their activities to complete the projects.
The NPI Project Engineer will be responsible for:
- To develop existing NPI systems/procedures to add value for our customers and optimise costs and turnaround time, whilst achieving targeted and strategic continuous improvement in internal performance metrics.
- Manage components/assemblies/projects through the various processes pre and post manufacture:
- PO and Quote check/cross reference
- Agree method of manufacture and route with engineers/production/planning
- Load MRP system with route and bill of materials
- Action engineering team and agree timescales for
- 3D CAD
- Work holding requirements (design and manufacture)
- Tooling requirements for manufacture
- CAM/programming requirements
- Quality requirements
- Define level of engineering support required for project and allocate ownership.
- Offer technical support for special processes such as NDT, Visual, X-Ray, MPI.
- Report on performance through “Right first time” and “on time delivery” for projects
- Develop feedback loop to continually improve performance metrics
The ideal NPI Project Engineer will:
- Be Apprentice trained – this is an advantage
- Have HNC/D equivalent, or a higher qualification, in a project/production/manufacturing engineering discipline(s)
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
- Demonstrable project management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of modern CNC manufacturing methods for producing high precision parts from 3mm to 3m in size
- Expertise in materials, processes, treatments and quality requirements
- Understanding of Production Planning Processes
This role would suit an experienced NPI Engineer who can manage the new product development team to deliver excellent metrics for “Right First Time” and “On Time Delivery”. You must be capable of working in a fast-moving environment and coping with variation and time pressures with the ability to drive projects through to successful outcomes.
