About the opportunity:

We are the internal recruitment partner for our client, a well-established and highly successful organisation specialising in all aspects of marine safety.

We are presenting an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and meticulous Buyer/Purchasing Specialist to join their busy and supportive team based at their Southampton office.

As a Buyer/Purchasing Specialist, will be responsible for the full expediting process for a wide range of suppliers. You will support the procurement team in effectively managing supplier relationships, monitoring stock levels, sourcing products, and ensuring all goods and services are delivered on time at the best price possible.

You will report directly to the Procurement Manager and become an integral part of the team.

The successful candidate will illustrate previous experience in a purchasing role. You will have the flair to seek out and negotiate the best deal, not be afraid to challenge the “Status Quo” and be dynamic and influential when dealing with suppliers.

You be able to work in a fast-paced environment where on time delivery is vital and be highly motivated with a flexible approach to meet the challenging demands of the business.

Requirements

Who we are looking for:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

· Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role.

· Previous experience of arranging shipments abroad and an understanding of custom requirements would be beneficial.

· A confident communicator with excellent negotiation skills.

· A sharp and decisive telephone manner.

· Ability to build and nurture strong business relationships with suppliers.

· A natural problem solver with strong analytical skills.

· Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

· Great organisational and time management skills.

· Ability to multitask and work to deadlines in a busy environment.

· Computer literate with proficiency across Microsoft Office packages.

· Live within a commutable distance to the Southampton Office.
