Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen at our client school local to the Bury St Edmunds area. The school is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic team member to support working with deaf children.
Within this role, you will be working 1:1 with a primary pupil with hearing impairments, creating a nurturing and supportive environment. You will also be expected to engage, communicate and support students in the classroom who do not have hearing impairments. You will help the students in their educational development whilst ensuring they feel confident and cared for.
The ideal applicant will be deaf aware, proficient in sign language and have obtained a minimum of British Sign Language Qualification Level 1.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fostering a caring and supportive atmosphere that encourages pupils social and academic development.
- Assisting with the delivery of learning agreed upon with the Teacher of the Deaf.
- Supporting class teachers and specialists to create a positive and inclusive environment.
- Assessing and Evaluating deaf pupils' learning through constructive feedback, discussion with the class teacher and providing information on their engagement.
- Understanding and fulfilling your safeguarding responsibilities.
- Assisting with outside play when necessary.
