Job description

Working alongside a dedicated and motivated team you will be responsible to:- Provide high quality specialist dental care to adults with complex needs in a primary care setting. This includes treatment of those with learning difficulties, mental health problems and challenging behaviour, complex medical histories, sensory and mobility problems, frail older person and socially excluded groups in the society Provide comprehensive dental care under Inhalation & Intravenous sedation where appropriate as well as General Anaesthesia at Torbay Hospital's Day Surgery Unit. Provide preventative care and advice to individual patients and their carer Keep comprehensive accurate records Clinical supervision of Foundation dentist and Educational supervision of such where officially appointed by the Workforce and Training Education Department The post holder will take a clinical leadership role in all aspects of Special Care dentistry and for developing the specialty within Torbay, including training and support to other members of the team with potential for future involvement in supporting training for a pre-CCST trainee in Special Care Dentistry Support managing referrals into the service, including assessment, treatment and provision of advice to other colleagues in the service where appropriate Participation in audit, clinical governance and peer review including all mandatory training requirements Liaison with hospital and GDP colleagues and other health and care teams in order to provide the right care for the patients Represent the service at local/regional meetings such as the special care MCN meetings or such like Support developing the service delivery model of special care dentistry for the CDS The post holder will also be expected to be an active member of the Dental leadersip team in the management, monitoring, evaluation and development of the service as appropriate and indicated by the Clinical Director Provision of advice and emergency care to all groups of patients seen within the CDS Display behaviours that demonstrate the Trust vision and values For further information please refer to person specification of the role
