Job description
We are a clothing manufacturer based in London and have specialized in unisex outerwear for over 30 years to both national and international customers.
In addition to manufacturing outerwear in the form of jackets and coats for both men and women, we have started a new manufacturing department supplying personal protective equipment in the way of masks, surgical hats, scrubs, and other hospital-related clothing to both the private sector as well as the NHS.
We have recently had new orders in the tens of thousands and require mass production weekly. This means that we urgently require 2 new staff members to meet the increasing demand of our business.
The new staff members will be placed in various sections working on different machines depending on skill, experience, and working knowledge of the machine itself.
We have the following machines:
- Lockstitch machines which can be used for a wide range of sewing operations;
- Overlocker machines which finish raw edges and are often used to join seams on knitted garments;
- Buttonhole machines for creating a neat buttonhole with finished edges;
- Button sewing machines to sew on buttons or cover buttons with a specific fabric.
- Blind hemming machines.
- Studding machines.
- Embroidery machines.
Duties & Responsibilities Include:
- Making all or part of a garment or other fabric items such as scrubs, gowns, surgical hats, tunics, masks, and healthcare-related clothing & PPE;
- Following instructions for each sewing job;
- Using a range of machine programs and machines, such as overlockers, hemmers, and bar tackers, to carry out a range of tasks and produce different finishes;
- Guiding the material through the machine, correcting any mistakes as you go;
- Altering machine settings to suit the type of material and finish required;
- Checking that a finished article matches the pattern instructions;
- Oiling and cleaning your machine;
- Working with designers and pattern cutters to make up samples of new styles.
Skills & experience required:
- Prior relevant work experience is a must;
- A good working knowledge of woven goods;
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently;
- Able to meet deadlines;
- Knowledge of binding machines, twin needles, and overarm pressing equipment is preferred not essential
Pay:
- Between £27,000 - £30,000 depending on experience and skill level.
Working Hours:
- Monday - Friday: 09:00 - 18:00.

- 28 days annual leave including bank holidays.
