You will teach from our Education and Training Centre based in Dunstable town centre, where you will inspire and lead young people to achieve and progress onto greater opportunities. You will effectively plan your engaging courses, set, and review targets, track learners' progress, and assess and submit work to ensure deadlines are met enabling learners to achieve. From you creating an enriching programme with varied teaching styles and experiences all will have fun and identify where the programme can lead them.

Who are we looking for?

Job Title: Health & Social Care & Work Skills Tutor

Location: Dunstable

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Contract Type: Perm

Reports to: Centre Manager

Salary Band: Unqualified £23k to £26k Qualified £27k to £30k

What are we looking for?

Qualifications:

• Qualified to PTLLS/DTLLS/Cert Ed/ PGCE (or equivalent)

• Qualified to PTLLS/ CTLLS (or equivalent)

• Assessor qualification and experienced

• GCSE (or equivalent L2 Functional skills) in English and maths at grade C/4 or above

• Health and Social care qualification level 2 or higher

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Plan, prepare and teach lessons at levels 1 & 2 for Health and Social Care and employability programmes.

• Plan, develop and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.

• Contribute to the development, implementation and review of policies, and schemes of work.

• Create engaging lessons that are full of learning and development

• Monitor and assess the achievement of students, and record and report the development, progress, and attainment of students by TCHC’s assessment policies and line with the principles of assessment for Learning.

• Make use of current technology to enhance teaching and learning.

• Be a tutor to an assigned group of students and carry out the associated academic and pastoral responsibilities as required.

• Implement TCHC’s inclusion and equal opportunity policies.

• Ensure that teaching assistants or other support staff and visiting speakers are used effectively in the learning environment.

• For this role you will be able to demonstrate your competency to teach, health and social care qualifications using NCFE standards at levels 1 & 2

Participate in the Professional Development

• In conjunction with the line manager, take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research and developments in teaching pedagogy and changes in the curriculum, which should lead to improvements in teaching and learning.

• Take full advantage of any relevant training and development available and undertake any necessary professional development as identified in TCHC’s self-assessment review and action plans.

• Be a reflective practitioner, evaluating and improving your own practice to take teaching and learning forward.

• Maintain a professional CPD record

• Under guidance from the Centre Manager, participate in a full induction programme.

• Administration

• Implement the TCHC assessment, recording and reporting procedures.

• Keep an accurate register of students by TCHC policy.

• Track the progress of learners using tracking systems

• Update your learner files daily

• Set SMART targets for students

• Conduct 1-1 progress reviews of qualifications and personal skills

• Participate in appropriate meetings with colleagues, parents and agencies for the benefit of the students.

• Participate in events/open days as required.

• Support for absent colleagues as required.

• Liaise with employers and other outside agencies.

Safeguarding

• To ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to

• Reporting procedures are followed

• Work with Centre Manager/DSL to gather information if you are required to

• Raise concerns immediately for the student’s welfare

Health and Safety

• Comply with procedures on all matters concerning health, safety, and welfare.

• Undertake risk assessment strategies for the programme area about teaching and learning.

• Take responsibility for personal health, safety, and welfare and that of others who may be affected by your actions or inactions.

Note: These responsibilities serve as an initial outline for the tasks that the post holder will initially be expected to perform. Changes may occur over time to accommodate evolving job requirements and adapt to shifting circumstances.

Furthermore, given the dynamic nature of our operational environment, individuals in these roles must demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to travel to different work locations. This outline represents an initial plan and will be subject to periodic review as part of our Continuous Professional Development process.

Certain aspects of their work involve handling confidential information, which should not be disclosed to individuals outside the scope of their official duties. It is imperative that the post holder consistently always adheres to the provisions of the General Data Regulation Act.
