As a Senior Manager of our Internal Audit team in London you will manage clients of varying sizes and composition covering a range of sectors in line with the Risk and Assurance Services (RAS) methodologies. You will oversee all aspects of client management assuming overall responsibility for allocating work and ensuring client service is maintained at a high level. Day to day you will manage the end to end audit process, including planning and scheduling individual assignments, undertake resource scheduling and manage billing and collection in respect of each client. You will lead a team of experienced staff members as well as coaching more junior members of the team. You will also attend Audit Committee meetings as and when required. You will support the Partner with work, assisting them with the department's exciting growth strategy and support with marketing and business development projects where needed. You will be primarily be involved with delivery work covering London and the South region.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of risk management, corporate governance, internal audit and systems/controls testing and will be ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or IIA qualified. You'll have experience of internal auditing clients within the public, not-for-profit or third sector, preferably in an outsourced or co-sourced environment.

This is a critical role for the team and along with the Partner you will play a big part on making key decisions on recruitment, staff appraisals, training and development and act as an ambassador for the firm for providing a best-in class, insightful and value added internal audit service to our clients.

Key accountabilities

Key accountabilities for this role is summarised below:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients mainly in the public and not-for-profit sectors
  • Overseeing the resource planner and ensuring audits are booked in line with agreed audit plans
  • Planning individual audits, defining audit objectives, identifying risks and controls
  • Review of files and working papers prepared by junior colleagues to ensure that audit plans, work and reports are evidence based, of good quality and meet Internal Auditing Standard
  • Adopting innovative and efficient audit techniques, such as use of data analytics, embedded/real-time assurance, auditing risk culture and principles of agile audit methodology
  • Managing positive senior stakeholder engagement throughout the audit timeline to encourage auditees to collaborate fully to achieve the purpose of the audit
  • Preparation of papers for audit and risk committees and attend meetings where required
  • Support continuous improvement in the internal audit service and processes
  • Support Internal Audit’s operational processes to deliver compliance with PSIAS standards
  • To provide peer support and mentoring to junior members of staff as well as line manage a small group of staff members
  • To stay abreast of industry developments and updates to technical standards and policies through continuing education/networking and be the conduit for establishing those practices for clients
  • Work closely with the Lead Partner and support with tendering and business development opportunities
