Job Overview
Are you a proactive hands-on security expert with a passion for influencing and shaping strategies, policies, and architectures that safeguard against cyber threats? Do you possess extensive knowledge and understanding of modern networks, security and the SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) framework? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced hands-On Security Architect to join our team and lead the continued strengthening of our organization's security.
As a Hands-On Security Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's security landscape working in collaboration with subject matter experts within our technology practices. You will be responsible for developing robust security strategies, establishing effective policies, crafting resilient architectures, championing the Zero Trust model, and leveraging SASE to deliver secure and scalable network access.

What you will do
As a Security Architect for Birmingham City Council, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our critical infrastructure, protecting valuable data, and ensuring the highest level of security across our systems and networks.
As a Security Architect you will:
- Develop and Implement Security Strategies: You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive security strategies aligned with the council's objectives and industry best practices. Your expertise will be instrumental in fortifying our security defences and minimizing risks.
- Design and Review Security Solutions: You will be responsible for designing and reviewing security solutions, including network architecture, cloud infrastructure, application security, and identity and access management. Your expertise will help establish robust security controls and measures throughout the council's systems.
- Leverage Microsoft E5 Capabilities: You will leverage the capabilities of Microsoft E5, including Azure Security Center, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and Azure Active Directory, to enhance our security measures. By leveraging these cutting-edge technologies, you will ensure effective monitoring, detection, and response to security incidents.
- Implement Zero Trust Model: You will drive the adoption of a Zero Trust security model, implementing strong access controls, multi-factor authentication, and encryption techniques. Your focus on Zero Trust will enable us to establish a comprehensive and proactive security approach.
- By undertaking these responsibilities, you will be instrumental in building a strong security foundation for Birmingham City Council. Your expertise and contributions will help protect our critical assets, enhance our security posture, and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems and data.

An in-person assessment day will take place and shall comprise of a technical assessment and panel interview.
