Job description
The key duties and responsibilities are:- Outpatient clinics at Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe General or Amersham Hospital Operating Teaching To be part of the on-call rota Clinical and other administration as required by agreement Teaching and training of junior staff and undergraduates Participation in Clinical Governance The department is a team of 7 consultants and 7 middle grade doctors with approval to expand this to 9 consultants in the coming 12-18 months. We currently run a 1:7 consultant-of-the-week model, and elective activity is suspended during the week on call to allow triage of emergency referrals, advice and guidance and consultant input for our emergency service and operating. The consultant will be supported by a team of experienced urology clinical nurse specialists, who carry out many of the flexible cystoscopies in the unit and help run the prostate biopsy service with the support of middle tier. The Consultant is also responsible for overseeing their share of a LUTS assessment clinic, the MDT results clinic for their patients, and bladder instillations. We run our service through our elective surgical hub at Wycombe where our Da Vinci Xi and Holmium laser are housed. We receive excellent support from a team of five uro-radiologists, providing a dedicated prostate MRI service, percutaneous renal procedures and urovascular interventional procedures.
