About the R&D Assistant job
The purpose of your role will be to provide support to the NPD Manager in delivering the company’s product development. This exciting role involves all aspects of NPD from concept to launch of new innovations in addition to continuous improvement of the existing range.
Key tasks
• Conduct laboratory trials for NPD, existing product development, new ingredients, and packaging and carry out factory trials of the same and complete supportive reports.
• Carry out physical chemical analysis such as viscosity, pH, Brix among others, and complete sensory evaluations, heat shock, melting resistance, scoop ability and generate reports.
• Maintain an inventory of ingredients and finished products in the lab and main freezer as well as shopping and conducting, benchmarking sessions, and collecting ingredients and packaging to ensure the NPD lab is well stocked, including ensuring that all ingredients are labelled with use-by dates.
• Help to write Lab SOP and follow R&D procedures and writing manufacturing processes.
• Ensuring that the NPD lab is spotlessly clean in line with hygiene rules and all equipment is kept properly maintained.
• Be aware of and comply with Health and Safety legislation and company requirements relevant to your role; Share good practice with your colleagues and keep managers appraised of developments and report any Health & Safety issues.
About You
The successful candidate should ideally possess a degree in a food science related study, and at least a year of experience. Alternatively, an experienced NPD assistant seeking a new challenge possibly within a laboratory environment and ideally within the food manufacturing industry.
• A hands-on and proactive person would suit this role.
• Mathematical skills and IT literacy are desired as well as English literacy and numerical skills.
• An excellent communicator at all levels.
• A personable candidate with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships.

The R&D Assistant job is based in Hampshire (Winchester) and is paying £25,000 - £27,000 according to your experience.
The working hours are usual working with flexibility to attend production trials 05:45am to 02:15pm or second shift 02:15pm to 10:30pm.
