Job description

Whytematter  are delighted to be recruiting a Logistics Officer  for a Practical and Ethical Recycling Solutions company that deal with Plastic Waste based in Bangor, Northern Ireland.

The Logistics Officer is responsible for coordinating all logistical activities to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the supply chain. This includes overseeing the transportation, storage, and distribution of goods, as well as managing inventory levels and monitoring shipment schedules. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation related to logistics activities.

Daily tasks will include:

 

- Liaising with shipping lines and hauliers on a regular basis to source and negotiate the most competitive transport options and shipping rates.

- Keep an up to date and live system of transport and shipping rates for both new and existing routes.

- Regular and timely engagement with hauliers to book and track trucks and containers, monitoring their progress / departure / arrivals and ensuring that this information is communicated to the appropriate personnel within the team.

- Preparation and completion of appropriate documentation and paperwork relevant to shipments.

- Liaising with customs agents and preparing customs declarations.

- Resolving shipping issues as an when they arise and having the ability and initiative to arrange alternative transport options, often at short notice, if required.

- Working closely with the suppliers / customers regarding their needs for loading / offloading of materials.

- Help resolve any arising problems or complaints in a timely and courteous manner.

- Liaising with suppliers, customers and our sales staff on a continuous basis throughout the day to ensure an efficient and effective end to end logistics service.

 

 

 

Qualifications and Key Skills required –

 

- 5 GCSEs Grades A*-C, including Mathematics and English.

- Highly competent in Microsoft Office

- An in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, where organisation, discipline and problem-solving skills are essential.

- Applying flexibility and initiative to all aspects of the job when required

- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

- To be energetic and self-motivated

- The ability to be courteous and remain calm when under pressure is essential.
