WRK digital are delighted to be shortlisting for a Head of Software Engineering to play a pivotal role leading a talented development team and be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the technical solutions that enable a market leading PropTech business. The company saw a 90% revenue growth year on year in 2023, with over 2.1 million visitors to their web platform.

About the team

Your leadership will inspire and guide a software engineering team of 5 to reach new heights of excellence, creating a culture of continuous reflection, innovation, growth, and improvement.The teams industry-leading property search platform and SaaS products are taking the market by storm and they have ambition plans for 2024. The team are buoyed by recent investment and you will be empowered to help build a winning team, starting with recruiting top engineering talent. Your role will include identifying, recruiting, and retaining high-performing engineers with the aim of doubling the team size in the next 12 months.
Areas of experience you'll need to be successful in the role:
* Hands on experience delivering software applications using PHP (Laravel) and JavaScript.
* Setting and delivering a technical strategy.
* Team leadership and coaching for software engineering teams.
* Timely delivery of projects.
* Scrum/Agile delivery framework expertise.
* Establishing and tracking key performance indicators for the engineering team.
* DevOps, SRE, and cloud infrastructure knowledge.
* Test-driven development and quality assurance.
* Recruitment of top level software engineering talent.
Skills and abilities you will be able to demonstrate :
* A deep understanding and history with PHP 8+ and Laravel 10.
* Leveraging APIs and integrating third-party services.
* Strong technical understanding and expertise with AWS and GCP.
* You're proficient in agile software development methodologies, ideally Scrum.
* You're a people person and have excellent communication and leadership skills.
* A collaborative, team-oriented approach to software development.
* You have a demonstrable track record in optimising and improving software architecture for speed, stability, scalability, and security.
* Extensive demonstrable experience in developing, testing, and launching software products.

There's a starting salary of 90,000 + an employer pension contribution and a range of flexible benefits including a health and wellbeing plan. This position is available for Software Engineering Leaders happy to spend a minimum of 1 day a week working from a stunning new office in the centre of Sheffield.
